Letter: Deploying Service Member Seeks Homes for Pet Cats

Christopher Schaeffer, a member of the U.S. military who is about to be deployed for multiple years, is seeking permanent, loving homes for his four adult cats.

Editor's Note: The following letter was shared with Patch so readers could help if possible.

To whom it may concern:

Hello. My name is Christopher and I am need of some help. I am active duty military and deploying soon. I have four cats I am looking for a home for. Unfortunately, I cannot take them with me. Their names are Neiko, Cleo, Willow and Midnight. They are all spayed/neutered and have their shots. I would really like to keep Neiko and Cleo together because they are brother and sister. A brief description of my cats is at the end. Thank you for any help you can provide.

Neiko - Male - 11 - Gray and White. Friendly. Very loveable and smart. Likes attention, but knows when to leave you alone. Very alert and protective. Likes to tell you when something is different or out of the ordinary. Great cat for any type of family, even multiple cat households.

Cleo - Female - 11 - Calico (Sister of Neiko). Friendly. Smart like her brother. Loveable and prissy. (Hence her name!) A natural alarm clock. If you are not up when you normally get up, she will let you know. Loves attention when she wants it. Stays. Great cat for any type of family, even multiple cat households.

Willow - Female - 10 - Orange. Big and loveable on her own terms. Very active and agile for her size. Likes to keep to herself but comes around when she wants attention. She is very suspicious of shoes. Every time she sees a new pair, she gives a little hiss, but nothing threatening. More of a display of surprise than anything. She has been fine in a multiple cat household, but is probably more suited as the only cat. (Gives her less to worry about.)

Midnight - Female - 9 - Black longhair. Very spunky and active. Loves attention and seeks it out. If there is an idle hand in reach she will come seeking it. Not needy though. She is suitable for any family type including multiple cat households. I do think however, she would be the perfect companion for someone older due to her very loveable nature.

My number is 717-673-0124.

I am looking for permanent homes. My deployment is multiple years. I'm in the process of moving my belongings back to PA. I was unable to find homes for them at my current duty station here in Connecticut so you may be a last shot at keeping them out of the SPCA.
