John M. Polefka Sr., 97, died Friday, March 8, 2013.
John M. Polefka Sr., 97, of Lower Saucon Township died Friday, March 8, 2013 at his residence. He was the husband of Mary A. (Pusch) Polefka. He was born in Alpha, N.J. on June 20, 1915 to the late John and Terezia (Radai) Polefka. He served our country faithfully in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. John was a union carpenter for 30 years until his retirement in 1979. He was a member of Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Colesville, and the Saucon Valley Lions Club. He was an avid shad fisherman and enjoyed woodworking.
In addition to his loving wife of 66 years; children: Rosemary C. wife of Thomas R. Fitzsimons of Allentown, Elizabeth A. wife of Thomas Swope of Langhorne, Eileen B. wife of Harry Hoover of Canadensis, Terezia A. Polefka of Newtown, Jean E. wife of Paul David of Lititz, John M. Jr. and his wife Sara of Bethlehem; 12 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by siblings: Joseph J., Elizabeth, Anna, Mary.
