The gun shop idea won't work because it would be out of business as soon as the government makes guns illegal for honest people to purchase. So how about a cigar shop. At least cigar smoking is still legal...for now.

Not a bad idea! Maybe cigar and libations if the state goes public?

Hellertown needs a good bakery. Home baked bread that has taste and reasonably priced donuts. I miss Hellertown Bakery. I refuse to pay $.95 cents for a Dunkin Blonuts donut. Don't people ever get tired of getting ripped off.

While we absolutely do not need another pizza place or hair salon, there is nothing that can be done about it if it is permitting by zoning. It might not be a good business move, but if it adheres to the zoning, a pizzeria or salon can be located there. And speaking of which, the word around town is that Papa John's is looking to buy the Hellertown Movies. No, I'm not joking.

A NY style bakery would be wonderful! Or a Long Island style appetizing store with fresh made salads and take out foods!

I like the bakery ideas. But specifically, an Italian Bakery would be my choice.... with a killer rum cake!

I, too, like the idea of a bakery, but would also love to have a GOOD pizzeria in town. They are all third rate, with the exception of Bella's, who are really not in the pizza business.

@charles hampton, don't know what your idea of good pizza is, but for us it is the kind you get up in the coal regions. Rectangular tray with with 12 cuts. If you like this kind of pizza try Fratzola's in the Giant shopping center on Easton Ave. They have been there for about 6 months and the pizza is as close as you can get to Old Forge, PA without the trip! Nice restaurant with good food and byob.

No more pizza places, nail salons, barber shops or dollar stores! No strip mall restaurant (rarely a good thing), nick-nack or antique shop, auto part store or lawyer or insurance agent office. Something actually useful to the community as a whole...a GOOD bakery!! Having a bad one with overpriced cupcakes and dunkin donut quality pasteries defeats the purpose. I want French (did I just say that) quality bread. Ok, who's going to open it?

I agree with above comments - we have way too many pizza places, nail salons, hair salons, - I think the idea of Panera Bread or maybe even a Zoup would be great. Or a shoe store would work too.

A Thai restaurant, Japanese food, a tapas Spanish restaurant, better yet.....a gluten free restaurant! What ever goes in there it needs to be something totally new we don't have one of in Saucon Valley.

Angie, Thai - White Orchids, Promenade or Thai Thai, Main St. Bethlehem; Japanese - Kome, Promenade; Spanish - Tapas, Main St. Bethlehem. Gluten free, no offense, not going to survive in Hellertown. I agree something new that will last. How about Eric Neith opens Smokin Outlaw BBQ there. Eric if you read this, dude there's your location.

The only location that could handle Wegman's would be the old Pathmart on 378. There were also rumors that it may be turned into a Trader Joe's. I wouldn't hold my breath.
