UPDATED: Dog Found on East High Street; Police Seek Owner

Hellertown police say the dog is a male Shih Tzu.

UPDATE: At 10:30am police reported that the owner of the lost dog had been located.

Hellertown police are seeking the owner of a lost dog found on East High Street in the borough on Jan. 12 at approximately 9:10pm.

Police announced Friday that the dog is a male Shih Tzu. The dog is black with a little white on the front, they added.

Anyone with information about the dog's ownership should contact the police department at 610-838-7040 or the borough at 610-838-7041.

As of Jan. 1, stray dogs picked up in Hellertown are no longer taken to the Center for Animal Health and Welfare in Williams Township. Rather, dogs are now temporarily cared for in kennels that have been constructed near the Wagner Grist Mill on West Walnut Street.

Information about stray dogs found in the borough will also be shared via a Found/Lost Dogs page on the borough's website.
