Borough Seeks Stand-By Snow Plow Drivers
The Borough of Hellertown is accepting applications for stand-by winter equipment maintenance operators to assist Public Works Department employees in plowing snow.
So far it hasn't snowed much this winter, but there's still quite a bit of winter left to go.
Snow plow drivers are likely hoping for lots more of the white stuff to fall, and Hellertown officials are apparently hoping independent snow plow operators will apply to help the borough's Public Works Department with road maintenance in the event of a significant snowstorm.
To that end, on its website the borough has announced that it is creating a stand-by, call-out list for drivers to assist the Public Works Department with snow plowing.
Candidates for the position of Winter Maintenance Equipment Operator must:
- Have a valid Pennsylvania Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
- Have six months of experience in the operation and maintenance of single-chassis trucks with a gross vehicle weight (GVW) of between 17,000 and 32,000 pounds and/or construction and maintenance of equipment such as rollers, front loaders or hi-lifts.
All candidates will be subject to a driving skill test in a manual transmission vehicle as part of the interview process, the borough said.
The hourly rate for snow plow drivers will be $20 per hour, according to the ad.
Applications are due as soon as possible and should be sent to Director of Public Works, Hellertown Borough, 685 Main St., Hellertown, PA 18055.
