Attempted Arc Welder Thief Sought in Lower Saucon

Police say a man in a dark-colored pickup truck attempted to steal a Lincoln arc welder from a property in the 1200 block of Seidersville Road.

Lower Saucon Township Police say they are seeking information about the identity of a man who attempted to steal a Lincoln arc welder from a property in the 1200 block of Seidersville Road on the afternoon of Dec. 3, 2012.

In a press release issued more than two months after the attempted theft, police said the man suspected of trying to steal the welder was driving a dark-colored pickup truck when he made his attempt.

"While pulling the large yellow welder off of the property with a chain, the wheel fell off of the welding machine's trailer," police said, adding that the suspect "then fled the scene without the welder."

Several days later, police issued a press release in which they stated the welder had been found "abandoned" on Seidersville Road and sought information about its owner.

The welder's owner was subsequently identified as a local resident.

The section of Seidersville Road where the welder was found is between Hickory Hill Road and Mountain Drive North.

Anyone with information about the identity of the man who attempted to steal it is asked to call the Lower Saucon Township Police Department at 610-317-6110.
